100% OF pro race costs are paid for by:

This ensures our pro race will never raise the cost or lower the experience of the 99% of riders who come to experience Gravel Worlds!

We are out to prove that one event can celebrate the peak of human performance, while also celebrating every participant that’s persevered through their own challenges. Our commitment to inclusivity means we’re elevating the experience for every participant.

We encourage every pro/elite athlete to stay after dark to celebrate with our First 2 Last Party. We will be hosting a party in the finish line to celebrate until cut off at 9:59 pm. Please come and cheer on those riders who have persevered through 14-16 hours of grueling gravel grinding!

Pro/Elite Category Information

We are incredibly excited for the opportunity to uplift our pro/elite racing at Gravel Worlds®! But we want to be very clear, that our focus has not left from the 99% of riders who never will or never want to stand on top of the podium and who are at Gravel Worlds to experience their own goals and challenges. Please know that we love celebrating what our pros can put their bodies through, but we will always spend most of our time and resources on those whose biggest competition is themselves.

Rules for Pro/Elite Category

In addition to the 9 Basic Rules of Gravel Worlds, the pro/elite category will have an additional set of rules. This is to create as much safety as possible among all participants and staff.

We will be updating the full rule book as we get closer to race day, but here are some rules we want to clarify now.

  • Self Supported!!

    • Every rider at Gravel Worlds is given the exact same opportunity of resources once they leave the start line. The only opportunity for refuel will be at the provided checkpoints and oases.

    • If you need it, bring it with you! No Drop Bags or Outside support.

      • If there is a special nutrition, hydration, mechanical item, or good luck charm you need, BRING IT WITH YOU!

    • No team vehicles on course or at checkpoints.

      • If you are interested in having a film crew, you must receive a media pass agreeing to all self-supported rules. If a rider or team’s media team violates these rules, the Gravel Worlds staff reserves the right to disqualify all riders directly involved.

    • Finish with what you started.

      • You can not throw away items on course for a tactical advantage. Specifically referring to items like hydration packs, water bottles, lights, and added items to the bike. Throwing items intentionally is frankly wasteful and is an advantage for riders who can discard expensive items that shouldn’t be wasted.

      • Plan your gear selection carefully.

      • Example: If you want the advantage of more water with a hydration pack, you need to carry the disadvantage of the weight and heat of an empty hydration pack.

  • Separate Starts

    • The Men’s and Women’s pro/elite fields will have separate starts.

    • To create as much fairness as possible among the elite men’s and women’s race we will have separated starts. The women’s field will start behind the pro men’s field with a 5-10 minute gap. Our goal is for every woman rider to at least start the race with the same opportunity for success as every other woman racer. The general field will then start 25-30 minutes after the women have taken off.

  • DON’T WRAP YOUR NUMBER PLATE!!

    • Wrapping, tucking, bending, folding, or manipulating your number plate will be strictly prohibited. Everyone must have their number plate visible below their handlebars.

    • Manipulating number plates is a constant source of errors in our timing system. We will need to ensure all on-course and finish-line splits are accurate to help broadcast and share accurate information on race progression.
